Extended Range Foundations

The SSI Extended Range Foundations program provides you with an opportunity to enhance your advanced diving skills in a workshop environment. Learn more about using tec diving gear in either a single cylinder backmount or a twinset backmount setup and build upon your basic skill set to master buoyancy, trim, finning techniques, positioning, and communication.

The Extended Range Foundations program provides supplementary training to existing certifications to increase your confidence and in-water control. All in-water sessions are completed in a confined water environment at depths less than 12 meters. You will earn the SSI Extended Range Foundations certification after completing this program.

FAQ’s

At the recreational level:

  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain trim at +/- 30 degrees throughout the entire program.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform all skills adequately with little shift in buoyancy or trim.
  • Demonstrate basic awareness of buoyancy, trim, stability, propulsion, and teamwork.

At the Extended Range level:

  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain trim at +/- 15 degrees throughout the entire program.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform all skills perfectly with almost no shift in buoyancy or trim.
  • Demonstrate advanced awareness of buoyancy, trim, stability, propulsion, and teamwork.
  • Diving insurance (available at an additional cost if you do not have a personal policy)

NOTE: personal insurance is mandatory for any scuba diving activities in Ireland

  • Equipment rental (available) must have your own computer
  • Cylinder fills (available onsite from 3rd party)
  • Portroe Quarry entry fee (pay on the day to 3rd party)
  • Portroe Quarry annual membership (pay on the day to 3rd party if you don’t already have)
  • Minimum 24 logged dives
  • Open Water Diver qualfied

 

  • Must be active status with logged dives in the last 6 months or can complete a scuba skills update prior to your course.
  • Minimum age 18 years old.

Cancelations MUST be made in writing via WhatsApp/Text to +353 85 8824797.
Cancellations made atleast 72 hours prior will receive a full refund.
Cancellations made after this will not receive a refund but may receive the option to reschedule at the discretion of the dive centre.
